Head of Risk - Permanent Contract

The role 🫵🏻

We are looking for a strategic leader to structure and drive the Risk function within our fast-growing B2B Fintech. Specializing in receivables finance and factoring, our challenge is twofold:

  1. Secure our portfolio (Credit, Fraud, Operational).
  2. Build a robust, scalable, and compliant risk framework adapted to a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities 🧭

1. Credit & Portfolio Risk

  • Define and evolve our credit policy (eligibility, limits, concentration).
  • Analyze complex structured deals (geographies, debt types, debtors, maturity).
  • Hold a decisive vote in Credit Committees.
  • Monitor portfolio performance (Default rate, Dilution, DSO, Concentration).
  • Implement Early Warning Signals (EWS) and define a clear Risk Appetite Framework.

2. Credit Insurance Management

  • Lead the operational relationship with our credit insurers.
  • Ensure alignment between granted limits and real exposure.
  • Guarantee strict compliance with policy obligations (declarations, deadlines, procedures).
  • Manage claims and follow up on indemnifications.
  • Anticipate business impacts of limit reductions or suspensions.

3. Operational Risk & Internal Control

  • Map operational risks (Processes, IT, Payments, Partners).
  • Implement Level 1 and Level 2 controls.
  • Structure the incident reporting and tracking system.
  • Contribute to the formalization of global risk policies and lead Risk Committees.

4. Fraud Prevention

  • Identify fraud scenarios (fictitious receivables, double assignment, data manipulation).
  • Deploy anti-fraud controls in coordination with the Data team.
  • Lead internal investigations and monitor fraud-related losses.

5. Data & Tooling

  • Collaborate with the Data team to develop internal scoring models.
  • Enhance risk dashboards and implement robust KPIs.
  • Provide regular reporting and strategic insights to the Executive Committee (ExCo).

6. Leadership & Team Building

  • Mentor and manage a Junior Risk Analyst and an intern.
  • Standardize analysis methods and operational processes.
  • Play a key role in the future hiring and scaling of the Risk department.

Profil & Qualifications 🎓

We are looking for a seasoned Risk professional with 5 to 12+ years of experience in B2B Credit Risk :

  • Core Track Record: Significant experience in B2B Credit Risk, ideally within factoring, structured finance, or a high-growth Fintech environment.
  • Strategic Impact: You have a proven ability to move beyond execution to structure and scale risk frameworks from the ground up (essential for the Head of Risk level).
  • Stakeholder Management: You are comfortable interacting with high-level external partners, including credit insurers, investors, or regulators.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in people management is required, as you will be responsible for mentoring a junior analyst and an intern from day one.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise: Deep understanding of receivables finance and B2B credit culture.
  • Insurance Mastery: Solid grasp of credit insurance mechanisms (delegated limits, policy compliance, claims).
  • Data-Driven: Ability to leverage data and collaborate with engineering teams to build scoring models and automated dashboards.
